The Box of Wondrous Secrets is the rarest and Sea of Thieves most profitable items in the game—so rare that most players will go their entire Sea of Thieves career without ever finding one. It only spawns in the Devil’s Roar, randomly on beaches or underwater (never at Seaposts or the Molten Sands Fortress), and even then, the drop rate is extremely low. 

There are no commendations, titles, or quests directly tied to this chest. No bells, no achievements—just pure, unfiltered gold. You’ll know it when you find it: it glows faintly red and looks like it’s barely holding in whatever cursed magic is inside.

Lore-wise, it’s tied to Flameheart and his followers, and its contents are supposedly so disturbing that they drove Stitcher Jim insane. For gameplay, it’s simply the highest single-value treasure item in the game.

If you find one, get it to Morrow’s Peak or Reaper’s Hideout as fast as you can. It’s that valuable—and that dangerous to hold.

Chest of Fortune
