Blacksmithing has always been a major profession, bringing huge value to the gaming process. Those who learn Blacksmithing can not only satisfy their needs, but also make a lot of gold by selling the gear. All the good stuff like armor and weapons come from blacksmiths.
The Dragonflight expansion makes this profession more versatile and in-depth thanks to newly-implemented recipes, spec branches, and the Crafting Orders system. Though, this is not the final list of changes that await us, and the game creators may surprise us with something else.
In this WoW Blacksmithing guide, we will discuss new features and the way they will influence the game. Just like all other professions, Blacksmithing will never be the same again. The developers have tried their best to make it more realistic in comparison with previous expansions with a more noticeable role-playing part. This brings players more interest and additional immersion.
Keep in mind that the information provided in this guide is not complete. Once the expansion goes live, subtle changes may be present. For now, let us dive into the upgraded Blacksmithing which awaits us in Dragonflight.
Before we begin, allow us to share the ways you can ease your WoW gameplay. If you have played enough in the old expansion and feel a bit tired, you may want to rest for a while before Dragonflight goes live.
However, do you really want to lose all the expensive and top-notch equipment available in raids? Certainly not. In that case, you should check out our WoW raid boost services where we get things done for you. Our reliable professional players will take care of every raid gathering the best loot available, while you rest and regain strength before the new expansion.

Blacksmithing Applications and Benefits
With the Dragonflight expansions, blacksmiths will interact with other professions as close as ever. The game’s developers have made this profession not only extremely useful, but also highly profitable. Do you want to know why? Check out these new features then:
- We are all used to crafting armor and weapons, right? This remains the main branch any blacksmith interacts with. However, you should remember Mythic raid items have always been in great demand and are considered rare. You can now craft those to sell or use yourself. Imagine what demand there will be for such top-rate equipment. The only problem every blacksmith will face is the lack of resources. In this case, make sure to save enough gold to buy it at the Auction House. Another option is to find it yourself if you have other professions like Mining under your belt.
- New profession tools have been introduced. Other players can now use those to progress in their professions quicker and more efficiently. Nonetheless, creating gear like this is not an available-to-everybody privilege. Only you can create it, as others do not possess certain abilities. Again, think of the demand for these tools once the expansion goes live. Everyone around will definitely want to make the most out of their own professions. For that, they will need professional tools you are ready to offer. Besides, those tools allow players to create items of better quality, as they provide a profession skill bonus. Who would refuse something like that, right?
- Covering a spec topic for a slight moment, you now can learn the weapon stone spec. You have guessed it right. Sharpening stones are coming back and the demand for them will be as high as ever. Who would not want to increase their weapon damage, right? All these people will make their way to you.
- Do you remember we mentioned the new system connected with doing orders for other players? We will talk about it in detail further in our Dragonflight Blacksmithing overview for sure. For now, you need to know that it will be possible to create rare BoE equipment using this mechanism. This is another way you can become richer since the demand for things you craft will rise immensely. Make sure to use this mechanism to farm gold quicker and effortlessly.
As you already see, Blacksmithing has become not only about crafting rare and expensive goodies. It is now a profession for people willing to make more gold. Though, you can never have enough pennies in your pocket. If you feel like you do not have enough money to buy the stuff you wish, you can buy WoW gold for a reasonable price with our services. No need to worry as it is the safest and most reliable way to get extra gold. If you are tired of endless grinding and farming, this is how you save your precious time.
General Blacksmithing Changes in Dragonflight
The game developers have done their best to change everything we knew about Blacksmithing until this expansion. To begin with, the profession icon and an old interface are now gone. Instead, there is a new icon and a more convenient interface that looks more stylish and is easier to use. The same change is applied to other professions to make them look completely new.
Just like with Jewelcrafting, Mining, and other professions, your character will change their gear to wear special equipment. This happens every time you do something connected with Blacksmithing (e.g. craft a weapon).
You now have four different specs at your disposal. By learning one or two of them, you will become a true expert in a particular Blacksmithing field. This adds more realism to the game and makes it more difficult to progress. They are far from being similar to one another, and you should think twice before learning a specific branch.

Asking a friend or guild member for advice can be a wise decision when it comes to choosing your spec. It may happen that the demand for a particular piece of equipment is extremely high and you will get maximum benefits out of learning a spec connected with it. We will take a deeper look at newly-implemented specs further in the guide.
Speaking of specs, game creators have also added points you need to spend to move further in a particular spec branch. To put it simply, you complete different quests and travel around the continent to earn those points and spend them to become a specialist in a chosen branch. Down below, you will find a few tricks on how to earn those points quicker.
The newly-implemented system connected with making orders is not only about Blacksmithing or any other particular profession. However, players of this profession and other crafters can make the most of it. By completing players’ orders, you will get better at the chosen art and earn a lot more shiny coins than in any other way.
Crafting Orders System in Detail
This mechanic not only allows you to satisfy other players’ demands quicker and easier, but also to earn more gold. With this system, you now can create necessary equipment for others. For that, another player must create an order where they specify all the details and estimated deadlines. If you feel like you can do this for them, you just take the order.
Remember that there is no best way to level Blacksmithing in WoW Dragonflight like there was in older expansions. For instance, you had a clear and straightforward path to reaching level 450 in WotLK. Thousands of guides on the Internet will tell you every step you should take to save time and get the maximum out of your profession.
That will not happen in the upcoming expansion since no one really knows the details and what awaits us there. Though, our team has prepared a few tips on how you can get ahead of other players from the start.

As for the rest, you now really need to put more time and effort into leveling up your profession. That is why taking orders from Crafting Orders is a great way to move further up in what you want to be a master of. However, we will share a few tricks that will help you level up the profession quicker. Do not miss any opportunity to gain extra levels.
Keep in mind that those who are looking for an experienced blacksmith do not have to provide the crafting materials for you. Though, another player provides Soulbound reagents if a Soulbound item is necessary. In this case, a crafted item (even by another player) will belong only to you and no one will be able to equip it. This has become possible thanks to this new order feature.
If you wish to create an order yourself, you can make it visible to the following groups of people:
- Your guild members only;
- Your friends only;
- One particular person;
- Everyone.
This is a handy tool if you do not trust other people on the server and want to interact with your guild members or friends only. It may also happen that you have already found a reliable player who executes every order on time. In this case, you can create an order for a specific person only. Finally, if you want to test out the system or do not really care who will execute your order, make it visible to everyone.
This feature will help you forget about grinding rare materials to create an item you need. Instead, you can now find a master in a particular sphere and pay them to do it for you. That is how deals should work to make both parties happy, right?
This implementation is convenient and straightforward. You find a person who is good at what you are not. Then, you describe what exactly you want to get and at what time. Once this person is done and you are satisfied with the result, you just pay the stated amount of gold.
Dragonflight Profession Knowledge Points
Before we jump into the specs available for blacksmiths, it is worth mentioning a new mechanic called Profession Knowledge Points. By spending these, you will progress in a chosen spec. Obviously, everyone wants to level up their profession as quickly as possible. So, here are the available ways to get Knowledge Points:
- Look for an NPC named Rabul in Valdrakken in Thaldraszus. He sells items that give you 15 Knowledge Points every time you buy them. In our case, blacksmiths should buy Dusty Blacksmith’s Diagrams. To complete the first purchase, you need to have 100 Artisan’s Mettle and 25 skill points in your profession. The second purchase can be done once you have 200 Artisan’s Mettle and have established a valued reputation with the Artisan’s Consortium. The final purchase becomes available when you have 300 Artisan’s Mettle and have established an esteemed reputation with the Artisan’s Consortium.
- You may happen to find a Dragon Shard of Knowledge that should be returned to the Master Artisan named Khadin. He is located in Ohn´aran Plains, not that far from Maruukai inside the cave. This is another option you can earn those precious points from.
- The easiest and most straightforward way to earn additional points is to create something new. Every new recipe that you use for crafting will grant you one point allowing you to move forward.
- Getting a weekly quest from a trainer Valdrakken is another great alternative to earn those points. The biggest plus of this method is that it is repeatable and can never end. Every time you complete it, the reward will be three of those highly-valued points.
Do not forget to check out our Blacksmithing leveling guide from time to time to find out about new ways to get those rare points. The information will be expanded and updated for your convenience. As for now, this should be enough to focus your attention on a particular branch and decide what field you want to become a specialist in.
New Blacksmithing Specs Explained
As we have promised above, we are now diving deeper into the specs. All of them are unique and you need to take your time to think about what branch you want to be an expert in. They are used for different purposes and you should be aware of whether other players need more armor, weapons, or something else. In that case, you can fully satisfy their needs and earn extra gold.
On the contrary, if you choose the wrong spec to invest your precious points in, you may find yourself in a tricky position. Yes, you can create valuable items, but the demand for them will not be that huge. In this case, you are unlikely to sell any of them for a decent price. The only thing you can do is wear it yourself or sell it to your friends or guild members.
This is not something you want to face during the expansion’s launch. This will be the best time to earn gold by selling rare resources and top equipment you have gathered or created. If you miss this opportunity from the very beginning, it will be difficult to catch up with other players later on.

So, our advice is as wise and simple as always – keep your points and monitor the situation before you start learning a particular spec tree. This will be your key to becoming a rich and valuable player for everyone on the server.
Theoretically, you can learn all four specs if you reach level 100 of your profession and acquire enough Knowledge Points. Though, let us be realistic and admit that it is a particularly difficult thing to do. You will be in constant need of those points.
No matter at what stage of the game you are, it would be too good to let players be experts in every spec branch. When the expansions go live, it will be better to focus your attention on one specific branch.
In this case, you can become a true master in your chosen spec. Everything you craft will be of supreme quality. Those who spend their points and learn a bit of everything from each branch will never be able to compete with you. Our Dragonflight Blacksmithing guide will explain every spec in detail to help you choose what you need.
Before we begin, let us pay attention to the ways of easing your gameplay process. You remember we have mentioned that Blacksmiths can now create items up to the Mythic raid level. However, it may happen that you do not have enough resources at this particular moment. What if you do need this gear, but are too busy to clear dungeons yourself?
By using our mythic carry services, you can rely on our professional players to do it for you. The result is guaranteed and the whole process is completely safe. Check out the prices and plans available to find what suits you best.
